Videos are wonderful ‘shareable’ content that entice locals to RSVP to dine with visiting chefs or attend events + foreign guests to take advantage of special offers.
Hotel social media is all about sharing moments. Make yours shine by sharing a healthy mix of Influencer and guest videos (and pics!) as well as your own. Also, be sure to modernise your own videos by making them more cinematic and less marketing’y!
The #1 rule when it comes to sharing your hotel’s F&B is to remember that foodies crave inspiring / relatable / authentic videos. They won’t respond even HALF as well to hardcore marketing content. So share behind-the-scenes moments with the team, a new menu item being cooked or plated, high tea as it’s being served, or bubbles being poured at Sunday brunch.
The first time I reviewed a hotel or shot a check-in video for Youtube was in 2012 in Bangalore. I had launched India’s 1st luxury travel blog and the review was a Taj property. After that I started writing reviews for magazines like Condé Nast Traveller, MAXIM, and Esquire. To date, I’ve shot video for and reviewed close to 100 properties, including W Hotel, Four Seasons, The Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott, Alila, Shangri La, and more.
For 24 years, I’ve worked in digital marketing and branding. And since 2008, I’ve worked with video and social media. Please take a moment to browse my CV on LinkedIn.
